Handmade illustration of a fine art print being carefully framed

Made-to-order art is printed after you place an order. You choose the artwork, format and size, then allow time for production as well as delivery. Whether it works for you depends on the piece you want and when you need it.

Allow time for production

Your print needs to be produced, checked and packed before it ships. Production time is separate from carrier transit, and both can vary with the product and destination. Check the shipping information before ordering, especially for a gift or a specific date.

What made to order changes

Printing after a sale can reduce unsold finished inventory. It still uses materials, ink, packaging and transportation, so made-to-order production alone does not tell you the full environmental impact.

It also does not make every print unique or guarantee its quality. The artwork may be available to other buyers. Materials, printing and finishing are what you need to compare on the product page.

What to check before buying

  • The material, surface finish and exact dimensions.
  • Whether a frame is included and which options are available.
  • The estimated production and delivery times.
  • How to report damage, and the returns and cancellation terms.

Is it worth the wait?

If you have found a piece you like and can allow time for production, made-to-order can be a good fit. If you need art immediately, check the shipping estimate before committing.
