Graphite pencil spiral with a small Mediterranean blue accent

A room can have all the furniture it needs and still feel unfinished. Sometimes the artwork is too small for the wall, hangs too far from the furniture, or has little connection with the colors around it.

Check the scale

A print can look large in your hands and small above a sofa. As a starting point, try an artwork or group of pieces around two-thirds the width of the furniture below it. This is a guide, not a fixed rule: leave enough space around the arrangement and check it from where you usually sit.

Mark the proposed size with removable paper or suitable tape before ordering. For a group of prints, include the gaps in your measurements.

Give the room a place to focus

Look at the wall you notice first when you enter or sit down. One larger piece may work well there, or a smaller group arranged together. If several objects are competing for attention, try moving a few before buying anything new.

Look for a color connection

The artwork can pick up a color from the rug, upholstery or wood in the room. It can also provide contrast. You do not need an exact match; look for a combination you enjoy seeing together.

Start with one wall

Choose the wall you spend the most time looking at, measure it and test a few sizes. A piece that fits that space is a more useful starting point than trying to finish every wall at once.
